A Christmas Discovery

Christmas for 2005 was awesome. I celebrated the season with a friend and fellow teacher of my DC mom. She brought me to her church in Bowie, MD.

Her daughter, Katie, is one of my penpals.

The church is a Methodist church. It was big and has a lot of people attending its services.

The service was awesome. There was the usual choir, the sermon and songs.

There was a dance performance, highlighted by a cameo appearance on-stage by a little boy. He was the son of one of the dancers. Seems to me he does not want to be out of the action.

There was also a cellist but something tells me he was really nervous...

Of course, at the end of the whole service, we lighted candles and sang Silent Night, Holy Night.

And the church gave everyone a bookmark.

All in all, it was a great service.

There was, of course, something that caught my eye.

There was a harmless little item that was placed on all chairs in the church.

It is shaped like one of those coffee creamers, where you peel off the top and pour the content into your hot beverage.

But it is not.

In fact, this is how the little item works. It is really neat.

1. When you peel off the 1st cover, you get to the first holy element: the bread.

2. The second cover peeled off revealed the 2nd holy element: the wine.

Steady.

Wow.. like the innovative idea of the Holy Communion in that manner. Save lots of trouble preparing the bread and the wine yar ?

But have to be careful lor.. cos if the congregation plomp themselves heavily on their seats and crushed that small little package, then not very nice.. hee hee...

The chair comes with a little handle, like those you see in cinemas for cups. So you put the holy communion item there. Sibey cheem one.
