We, the Citizens
Does anybody remember how to recite the Singapore pledge?It was weird how after the passing on of former Cabinet Minister S. Rajaratnam, we started talking about the pledge and how we used to say it every morning before school begins.
Aloysius and I were talking about it and we started asking each other:
"eh, you remember the pledge or not?"
And we both got stuck at "We, the citizens of Singapore. Pledge ourselves..."
It was not only after we started singing it that we remembered the whole pledge.
It really hit home.
