My wish for myself in 2007

This is not really a new year resolution, simply because it has such a bad connotation.

"Resolutions never work."

"Resolutions are unachieveable."

"New year resolutions are supposed to be broken."

So for year 2007, as what Ruth told me, Pastor said it's a year of new beginnings.

I shall then call this the wishlist for my new year of new beginnings.

1. To put God FIRST.

Putting God FIRST in my Finances, Interests, Relationships, Schedules, and Troubles.

I was deeply ministered by Joyce Meyer and I thank God for He led me to hear her preach on TV. It is so true that lots of time I work God around my schedule.

Oh, once I'm done with all my work, I'll read God's word before I doze off to bed.

I'll listen to a CD when I'm done with all my chores.

I'm ashamed, and even though I'm lacking discipline, God didn't leave me lacking.

Lord, I want to put you first. No more working You around my shedules, but working my time around You. Giving You the time, attention, and interest for You are my God.

2. Taking good care of my BODY.

Yes, and that means getting more rest, drinking more water, eating more healthily, taking good care of my skin and hair, loving my fingernails, exercising more.

For my body is the temple of God. And I'm not going to let give it less care than it deserves.

And that also means putting on sunscreen lotion.

3. Replenish my thirst, physically and SPIRITUALLY.

More than just drinking water, I want to drink from the well of Jesus Christ. The water that once I drink, I will never thirst again.

I wish to depend more on Christ for the replenishment of my spiritual needs, and not look to earthly things for rest.

4. A RELAXING time work-wise.

It means I, the Sane One, have to stop driving myself too hard and strive but to take time off to rest.

5. Putting God first in my RELATIONSHIPS with people.

I know I've mentioned this in #1 but it is worth mentioning again. How often did I place the people in my relationships first and put God last? Many a times I've let others or myself be the centerpiece in my relationship.

Lord, teach me to put you first in all my relationships with people around me. That way, they will be blessed and fruitful.

It is not about me stiving to bring my relationships to where I want them to be.

It is all about Him bringing my relationships to where He wants them to be.

And His thoughts for me all good.

6. Bringing my FINANCES to God.

Giving to God my tithes and offerings, trusting Him with my study loans and bank account, giving Him praise for all the breakthroughs with my financial awards from school, learning to have complete trust in His provision for now and for years to come.

7. Being mindful of the JOY of the Lord.

To be mindful to smile when the day doesn't seem to be going well. To be mindful to give thanks when people around me disappoint me. To be mindful to proclaim His goodness when I'm sick. To be mindful to laugh when people ridicule me. To be mindful to rejoice when I see good things happening around me.

Lord, teach me to put you first.

Such a simple truth.

Yo sister, pastor prince shared on last Sunday's service about "Cultivating God's presence" wherever we are. Involving Him, talking to Him, telling Him our thoughts, our happiness, things that touches us, our worries and all. He is always with us. :)

1 King 5:4 (NIV) - But now the Lord my God has given me rest on every side, and there is no adversary or disaster.

Let's continue to REST in Jesus.. for He is our REST. :)
