Great quotes

I don't know what it is about me that lands myself and my ass at places where I can get so easily inspired by what others say.

Just last Sunday, I had the priviledge and great honor of listening to Pastor Ron. He's the pastor of South Hill Church of the Nazarene. This church is just down the road at where I live. Service starts at 10:45, I leave my house at 10:42, and can still be early! That's how close the church is!

Actually, Pastor Ron is just the interim pastor. The church is in the process of finding a replacement of the previous pastor who moved to another town. Pastor Ron reminds me of my DC Grandpa. Round, jovial, sweet, endearing, always smiling and ready to give you the biggest hug.

Pastor Ron also loves the church and the people. He is compassionate towards the seniors, strict but polite towards the young kids, and full of fatherly love towards the college students. However, there are just not too many college students in this church. Including me, there is a grand total of three.

But Pastor Ron is not defeated. In fact, one of the few things he asked me was to help him pray for a way to attract more young people to South Hill Church.

You know? I love Pastor Ron and his wife Ilona, and everyone at South Hill Church. Deep in my heart, I want Pastor Ron to be the PASTOR of the church... But it's up to how God leads the church.

Right now, I am thankful to God for opening this wonderful door for me to experience wonderful worship (yes, singing from a hymn book was so much fun! Not because of anything, but simply because of how enthusiastic Pastor Ron is everytime he leads the worship).

And I'm thankful for the valuable truths the Lord led Pastor Ron to preach on, that sets me free.

These days, I'm just so exposed to wonderful speakers.

Just last night at Students For Christ, Pastor Chip from Agape spoke about fatherly love.

Do we know our Father?

Do we really know His heart?

Is He one who is waiting to smite us at every instant that we fall?

Or is He one who can't wait to shower us with blessings?

(Luke 11:5-13)

Tonight was the night of the Professionals Symposium at IC.

I tell you, being in the company of all the students and alums made me feel so proud to be part of this school.

Yes, IC has really made me what I've become.

My experience as an exchange student forged the deepest friendship which lasted till now and I pray will last forever.

I have a wonderful family who "adopted" me and since then, I've visited them so many times I've lost count.

And right here in Ithaca are friends and families who are eager to make me part of their lives.

Yeah, even my boss now was my schoolmate from my exchange days!

And now, IC is giving me a shot at grad school by blessing me with scholarships and a great program that challenges me and yet gives me an opportunity to grow as a research scholar and an independent individual.

I am thankful.

I truly am blessed.

So tonight at this symposium, the keynote speaker gave a speech and some phrases just will forever stay in my heart.

"Every child is born a genius."

How true.

"Every step we take we have to remember to look back, look around, and look up."

Look back, at those who have paved the way so that you can be where you are.

Look around, at those whom you love and those who love you, and support you.

Look up, to the One who watches over you, who loves you deeply, and never lets you down.

I heard a similar quote too, two weeks ago at church... about how God is the way the truth and the light.

About way: God is the way, the way when there's no way, the way forward and the way upward.

Praise God!!!
